Wake Up Call

Kiehl's Eye Alert
With long hours on set skin does tend to get a bit tired after lunchtime, so I like to freshen and tone, and re-apply any makeup if necessary. With my action star host on the reality show I need to do so little; but one thing we both appreciate is a fresher skin after being on set for 6 to 7 hours. I am only just discovering the fantastic benefits of men's skincare ranges like Vichy Homme, Men Expert and Kiehl's Facial Fuel goodies.
My most favourite find so far is Kiehl's Eye Alert ...with it's caffeine content it is espresso for eyes! Wake them up, why don't you!?! On the reality shoot I had to apply makeup to a featured extra who had rather puffy eyes from too much time on the laptop and not enough time to rest. I wondered whether the Eye Alert would make any difference at all...and boy, was I in for a fantastic surprise. Within minutes of application this product reduced the puffiness under and around the eyes remarkably. I was most impressed. From now on I really can't see myself reaching for anything else.
L'Oreal Men Expert Pure and Matte is available at Dis-Chem
Another gorgeous must-have for men's grooming is the L'Oreal Men Expert Pure & Matte Moisturising Gel. Just because it says 'matte' doesn't mean it's drying; it worked very well as a base for my powder foundation application. It also balanced the skin by returning it to a more even tone and texture; with no dryness whatsoever, and just matte enough for HD cameras to be happy. Dischem carry the full range, and they are very affordably priced; great for your male grooming kit.
Vichy Homme Hydra Mag C+
Then there's the Vichy Homme Hydra Mag C+ Anti-Fatigue Hydrating Care for face and eyes. My reality show host really liked this one. It is instantly refreshing and calming. I usually apply this after lunch, when we've already spent the entire morning in the sun, and this just wakes up tired skin in a flash.
So far I am getting great results with these products and my actor's skin has regained and retained moisture even though conditions on set have been hot, windy and dry. - always check with my artist to see how comfortable they are; it's important to establish, quite quickly, whether or not they are enjoying the feel of the product, as much as I'm enjoying the result!
